At Christian International Family Church we believe in worshipping according to the New Testament pattern which is in spirit and in truth. ”But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23,24 There are nine expressions of biblical worship. The first, andmost obvious, expression is singing, which causes the enemy to lack. There are three classes of songs in worship; Psalms – scriptures put to music; songs of celebration and reverence for who God is and what He’s done, Hymns – songs that instruct us as in doctrine, and Spiritual Songs – songs that are either spontaneous or written for the moment. The other expressions of biblical worship include; speaking, shouting, clapping, lifting hands, playing instruments, standing, bowing, and dancing. Worship is not a spectator sport. Praise and worship is not just something to take up time before the message. Rather it sets the platform for the ministry. When God’s people worship Him in spirit and in truth, it releases an atmosphere conducive to spiritual ministry. Psalm 22:3 says that God is enthroned on the praises of His people. In 2 Kings 3:9-19 we see that Elisha requested a minstrel to come forth and play music so that he could come into a proper attitude to hear the voice of God. Likewise, worship creates an atmosphere where hearts are aligned to God and our spirit can tune into what God is saying to us. In the atmosphere of true heart-felt worship manifested by God’s people, we can expect to do things we could not do before. We “tune” into God’s voice, His thoughts and ideas and His wisdom. We can shift from our natural mind and thinking to a spiritual mind and spiritual perception. Every time we strike the first chord of praise and worship we believe for signs, wonders, and miracles. We worship according to the revelation that God is restoring the tabernacle of David. We do not need to progress from the outer courts, to the inner courts and finally into the Holy of Holies, but rather we worship with the revelation that the veil was rent in two and we can come boldly before His throne in praise and worship. Singers and musicians desiring to join the worship team must audition. If you are interested in joining in one of these capacities see Pastor Dean Mitchum for an audition application and to schedule a time to try out. You don’t have to be able to sing or play an instrument to be a member of the worship team. If you have an ear for sound or are computer savvy and attentive you can serve the worship team as a member of the multi-media and sound team. Contact Jonathan Duty if you are interested in serving in one of these areas.
